The San Beda Red Lions overcame the gritty Letran Knights in the opening game of the FilOil Fliying V Pre-season Invitational tournament at the San Juan Arena.

Dino Daa and John Melegrito kept the Knights within striking distance of the Red Lions throughout the 2nd quarter. But the aggressive play of Ekwe via a Letran single coverage in the shaded lane was enough for the Red Lions to close the 1st half with a 6-point lead, 37-31.

In the 3rd Quarter, the Red Lions continued their aggressive play. Escobal, Aljamal, Tecson, Gabby Lanete, and Borgy Hermida gave the Knights nightmares from the perimeter that they cruised thru the 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half with a score of 57-51.
