DE La Salle University wants to correct its previous mistakes. Last Friday, the Green Archers proved that they learned something to avoid another loss.

The Green Archers needed just enough gas in the payoff period to shrug-off a slow start and rally past Far Eastern University, 82-76, in the second round of Fil-Oil Flying V preseason invitational cup at the Arena in San Juan City .

Trailing most of the way, point guard Tyrone Tang and forward Marko Batricevik connected from the outside and allowed the Green Archers to turn a 64-58 deficit at the end of three periods into a 78-73 lead with only 26.2 seconds to play.

After the Tamaraws missed twice from the three-point area and Ricardo Cawaling muffed two free throws, JV Casio converted both his bonus shots to increase the lead to 80-73 with 3:09 remaining.

La Salle was never threatened from there. “We learned something and we have to keep it up,” said De La Salle U head coach Franz Pumaren. “We have to correct all our mistakes to win any game and we have must start today.” La Salle paces Group B at 3-1 while FEU absorbed its first loss in three games in Group A.

Veteran playmaking guard Tyrone Tang registered 10 of his 14 points in the last period along with seven assists and two steals while big man Marko Batricevic provided 12 and Rico Maeirhofer and Rejan Lee chalked up 11 each.
