Green Archers shoot down Falcons

14 07 2007

Patrick Cabahug’s 31 points could not carry the Falcons high enough as they got literally whacked by the De La Salle Green Archers, 99-75, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last July 14.

Vastly improved Rico Maierhofer made a game-high 17 points and 15 rebounds while JV Casio topped the Archers’ scoreboard with 19 points. James Mangahas also finished with 15 points and Cholo Villanueva shared 10 points.

The Archers buried the Falcons with a 21-point lead after the first half, 50-29, with Casio and Maierhofer making a combined 21 points of La Salle’s 29 second-quarter production.

Patrick Cabahug made a hefty 14 points for the Falcons making a couple of big three’s and three FGs in the 3rd quarter. But James Mangahas was the man of the quarter scoring 13 of his 15 points to immediately answer Cabahug’s every effort. La Salle finished the third quarter with a 22-point lead, 73-51.

In the 4th quarter, La Salle’s bench tallied 23 points with Peejay Barua leading the field with seven. Roel Hugnatan and the Falcons still struggled with every shot. Only Cabahug and Jerick Cañuday could cut it for Adamson with both making 7 points each. The game finished with a 24-point lead for the Archers.

It was La Salle’s second straight win of the season and the Falcons’ second loss.

La Salle’s quest for glory continues as they face the FEU Tamaraws (1-1) on Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Meanwhile, Adamson will try to steal a win also from a struggling UST Growling Tigers.
