The National University Bulldogs is back on the winning track.

After struggling against Ateneo and UST in its previous games, the Bulldogs made a statement when they brought down the Adamson Falcons last July 28 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

“This is the first time we lead this much over Adamson after a long time,” said Coach Manny Dandan after the game.

“We didn’t get the advantage with our previous matches. I told the boys that we really have to play tough against Adamson,” he added.

Raymond Aguilar made a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.

Adamson is still tied with UP at the bottom of the rankings at 0-4.

The Bulldogs were in early control of the game leading by 8 points after the first period, 23-15.

After the first half, NU was shooting 70.6% in FG percentage while Adamson was only 40%. The bulldogs forced the Falcons to a 12-point deficit after two quarters, 44-32.

In the third quarter, Leo Canuday and Patrick Cabahug kept the Falcons above water by trimming their deficit by seven, 48-41 with 6:20 minutes to play.

But the Bulldogs ignited an 8-0 run courtesy of a three-point shot from Michael Salvado, and FGs by Joseph Lingao-Lingao and Edwin Asoro with 2 minutes remaining and notch a 59-43 lead.

The third quarter ended with a buzzer beater from Jonathan Jahnke that extended their lead to 14 points, 64-50.

The fourth quarter was a horrible site for the Falcons as the team of white and blue kept shooting bricks. Cyrus Malagueño made three triples in the first 5 minute-stretch.

Three-pointers from Asoro and Salvado and power basketball from Aguilar clinched a 23-point advantage over the Adamson with 3:25 in the clock.

Cabahug’s 14 points in the last quarter could only reduce the shame to 15 points. He made a total of 30 points while Canuday produced 18 points for Adamson.

NU’s next game will be against La Salle, another team that’s also struggling to get back its rhythm at the Cuneta Astrodome on August 4. Adamson, on the other hand, goes head to head against fellow winless UP Fighting Maroons on Thursday, August 2 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
