The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons were wearing an “I love Joe” patch taped over their jerseys. They played their hearts out in their last game this season in tribute to Coach Joe Lipa.

The UP Fighting Maroons received their 14th straight loss against the Adamson Falcons, 93-75, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last September 15.

Patrick Cabahug showed excellent shooting with 53.3 % from the Field. He also made 2/3 three-pointers and bagged a total of 25 points for the Falcons who finished with a 2-12 record this season.

Mike Gamboa led the Maroons with 15 points and a 60% FG percentage, all made in the fourth quarter. Migs De Asis shared 14 points while Maggy Sison and Woody Co took 11 points apiece.

It was a touching site to see everybody from the stands clapping their hands in appreciation to the coach that gave UP its first UAAP title and the man behind the development of the Ateneo Basketball program that attracted players such as: Rico Villanueva, Ritchie Alvarez, LA Tenorio and Magnum Membrere.
