May I Offer You Some Cake?

7 10 2007

LA SALLE WINS ITS 7TH TITLE ON THE 7TH DAY OF OCTOBER 2007 IN THE 7TH DECADE OF THE UAAP WHICH HAD ITS FIRST GAME ON JULY 7, 2007.

This is a UAAP season that would drive a mathematician crazy. The equations are not right. The team that should didn’t and the team that shouldn’t did. Beating Ateneo twice in 5 games, the Green Archers get to the finals. Today, 2 straight was far better than 14 straight. La Salle had an overall record of 13 – 6 while UE had 14-2, but La Salle wins the most coveted prize in Philippine college basketball, the UAAP Men’s Senior Basketball Crown.

Even before the game began, the La Salle gallery showed class by cheering each player who was given an individual award. From “Go USTE, Go USTE” for Jervy Cruz and Japs Cuan then “NU, NU, NU” for Edwin Asoro and “Go Ateneo” for Chris Tiu (represented by his brother Charles), the La Salle gallery just showed what sportsmanship is all about.

The game started out slow with both teams missing its first few shots. After splitting a pair of free throws, La Salle scores the first point. All of sudden UE scores 8 straight points. Coach Franz immediately calls a timeout and when the Green Archers come back on the floor, they slowly chip at the lead. They force the Warriors to turnover after turnover and most importantly they do not UE to control the boards. Casio ends the quarter with drive. The quarter ends 15 -11. That was UE’s lowest 1st quarter output all season. La Salle would never relinquish the lead

The 2nd quarter was a different La Salle team that came on the court. They looked determined while UE looked tentative. Even the coaching staff of UE looked uncertain.

La Salle played defense that made it impossible UE to get into a groove. On the other hand La Salle’s offense was picture perfect. They took their time on the offense and their patience paid off. It was a classic case of a mature team outthinking and outplaying a team that has never been to the finals.

La Salle starts to build a lead. They have the momentum and force UE to take bad shots After UE’s Marcy Arellano scores a 3, La Salles’s PJ Barua takes it back with a 3 of his own.

Then UE starts to crumble. La Salle is not intimidated by UE’s size. They bring the ball inside and just break down UE’s defense. La Salle runs the ball and UE just can’t find a way to stop it. Maeirhofer is unstoppable in rebounds and scoring, making 7 straight points,

Midway through the 2nd quarter, La Salle takes an 8 point lead, the largest margin of the series. But they weren’t done yet. UE just self destructs. They were held scoreless for 5 minutes.

When Pocholo Villanueva hits a dipsy doo shot, the Green Archers took the first double digit deficit lead that UE has experienced all season. Not one in the UE players could find his rhythm, even from the foul line. The most telling sign was that unlike Game 1, La Salle controlled the rebounds. More surprising was that the rebound leader at this point was Kish Co,

With La Salle up by 14, UE finally hits a 3, but PJ Barua again takes it back with his own 3. Rico Maierhofer makes the final point of the quarter and La Salle takes an 11 point lead, 34 – 23 at the half. The 23 points of UE was the 2nd lowest output of any team this UAAP season and the lowest of this regular season unbeaten team. UE made only 9 out of 23 shots and La Salle outrebounds UE 34 -22.

The 3rd quarter starts off with UE scoring 10 straight points and brings the lead down to 1. But it is obvious that La Salle does not panic. La Salle does not score for 5 minutes but when Pocholo Villanueva finally scores, UE just can’t keep up. Casio hits an under goal stab, is fouled and makes his shot. La Salle pulls away again by 6.

Coach Dindo Pumaren keeps shuffling his players. Coach Franz does not fall for it. He stays with his veterans. Every time UE makes a move, La Salle stops them on their tracks. It was all about composure. La Salle did not allow UE to dictate the tempo.

I was really surprised by the hustle of Kish Co. He was a man possessed. He averages 2 rebounds a game yet today he had 10 in the first half alone. But the most unbelievable statistic in the 3rd quarter was that La Salle committed zero, wala, nada, turnovers. I don’t think I have ever seen that in any game I have ever watched.

The 3rd quarter ends with La sale on top 52 – 45. Again the 45 points of UE was the lowest they have scored in the 3rd quarter this season.

The last quarter starts with UE’s James Martinez and Mark Borboran hitting 3s. But JV Casio retaliates with a 3 of his own followed by Villanueva’s 2.

La Salle just stays focused while UE is starting to panic. They don’t look like the team that they were in the regular season.

Pocholo Villanueva, playing in his last season, takes over. He steers the team to play smart basketball. He shoots, he hustles, and plays great defense.

With 4 minutes to go, La Salle is up by 6. Only UE’s Paul Lee shows some spark. UE brings the lead down to 2.

Again, the turnovers just kills UE. La Salle’s transition defense just does not allow UE to set-up. They just can’t find a way to tie the score. After Casio splits his free throws, UE commits its 21st turnover.

With 2 minutes to go and La Salle up by 3, UE can’t buy a basket even from under the goal. Tang takes the rebound and gets the 5th foul from Paul Lee. Tang makes both foul shots, giving La Salle a 5 point lead with 1:48 to go.

In UE’s next possession, Mark Borboran misses both his foul shots and Maeirhofer gets his 10th rebound. In La Salle’s next possession, JV Casio hits a shot with no time left on the shot clock.

La Salle is up by 7 with 51 seconds to go. UE’s Marcy Arellano runs the ball down and makes a quick 2. With La Salle up by 5 and 45 seconds to go, Coach Dindo calls for an intentional foul. This was a big mistake by Coach Dindo. There was too much time left and hitting both foul shots would give La Salle a 3 possession game. Casio hits both and the game is all but over.

Arellano drives and misses an open under goal stab. UE takes a 3 and misses but they are fouled and splits the foul shots. With 28 seconds to go La Salle gets the rebound and OJ Cua is fouled. He makes both and La Salle leads by 8. UE gets the ball back but can’t even make a lay-up.

Casio is fouled and splits his free throws. The final foul shots are made by Rico Maeirhofer and La Salle wins the game and the championship 73 – 64.

The Finals MVP was awarded to both Pocholo Villanueva and JV Casio.

It is the sweetest championship for the Green Archers. From suspension to champion. From being doubted to being validated as the best team in the league.

It was a total team effort. The veterans were expected to perform but they were ably supported by the heads up play by the virtual unknowns in Barua, Kish Co, Mangahas, Ferdinand, Atkins and Malabes. If this were a play, it was a perfect script.

But the man of the hour is Coach Franz Pumaren. He has undoubtedly proven to be the best collegiate coach. He has become our version of John Wooden of UCLA who won countless championships in the US version of the NCAA. The best thing about Coach Franz is that he enjoys college basketball and from the looks of it has no plans to go pro.

On TV, even Kobe Bryant, whose father and former NBA star Joe is a La Salle alumnus, congratulated the La Salle team with an ANIMO LA SALLE!

Anyone care for a slice of cake with delicious green icing?

Congrats. DLSU totally out-coached UE. It was pretty clear from the 1st quarter who was going to win. Experience over talent.

I am a true blue Atenean and proud of it. I watched the DLSU games against UE. Needless to say, I was hoping for a UE victory. DLSU played with the heart of a champion. The complexion of the game changes drastically when you step into the finals arena. And DLSU simply owned the court from the moment the players stepped foot on the parquet. UE will definitely be back next year and will be more dangerous having had a taste of the finals. Kudos to DLSU! Thanks for the thrilling series with ADMU! See you next year!

Blue marc,

I am so happy to see you miserable. This La Salle victory is dedicated to people like you who woke up this morning with the realization that La Salle won. You must be getting an ulcer from all the sour grapes you ate, all the way down to the depths of your stomach.

I hope you do not stop posting your remarks cos everytime you do, it will remind you that La Salle is the champion.

I thank the high heavens for people like you. It makes victory a lot sweeter.

By the way, maybe you should start thinking of next year. It just might be the year Ateneo finishes 2nd.

Thank you again.

congratulations to la salle for winning the UAAP championship. UE simply choked under pressure. and you are correct, mr atayde, the finals stage is different and it clearly showed the inexperience of UE. la salle validated the analysts view that whoever wins the ateneo-la salle duel will eventually win the championship. even as an atenean, i have to admire the poise that la salle showed the last 2 games.

til next year…

8 10 2007
go_animo

mr. green mind, july is also the 7th month.
so ang uaap this year started on 7/7/07.
and winning on the 7th of the 10th month (october) during the 7th decade (equivalent to 10 years) of the uaap.

and if you add the taft address of dlsu, 2401, that is 7.

i don’t exactly subscribe to numerology (unless i’m trying to figure out the lotto’s next winning numbers), but it sure looks like something to think about.

8 10 2007

blue marc, there’s nothing wrong about bragging as long as one brags about the truth. unlike you, bragging about things you can’t own up to.

when we lasallians brag about something, we just point out things about ourselves. seldom do we brag by putting down others, unless they asked for it.

ateneans like you are a disgrace to your school. instead of just accepting things that turned out to be good for la salle, here you are coming up with your innuendos.

Last night, the Green Archers played championship basketball, displaying tremendous poise and game control, as we have never seen before. Their defensive game was awesome and their offense clicked when it mattered most.
No question. It was their night. Their championship.

To the green mind himself Tony Atayde, I would like to thank your for your column. I am based here in the states and one of the things i miss from the Philippines is cheering my heart out for La Salle everytime our Green Archers play. Needless to say, the green mind is the first webpage i visit everytime i open the computer. I do hope you continue writing even if this years UAAP basketball season is over. The Green Mind with its La Sallian point of view makes for an interesting read (the moronic comments makes for good entertainment:)) and keeps me updated with the latest La Salle/college basketball news.

Again, thank you and congratulations to all of us. ANIMO LA SALLE!

Animo La Salle! One thing i can say to UE if they are wondering what hit them is that they were “FRANZED”. UE played the way they played in the eliminations while La Salle played a notch or two higher than the eliminations. And the extra game with Ateneo was a good tune up game for La Salle in preparation for the finals. We should give special credit and thanks to the people behind the team, Franz’s coaching staff, statisticians, Dan whose conditioning showed all the way, the management and the believers. ANIMO LA SALLE!

Tony can you tell me when was the last time a school got double champioships in one season, one for the Juniors and one for the Seniors?

8 10 2007
The Green Mind

In the UAAP, there have been 7 times in the past that a school has won both juniors and seniors crown in the same year. UE did it twice in 1982 and 1985. Ateneo did it back to back in 1987 and 88. UST did it 3 times in 1993, 94 and 96.

No team has ever won the juniors’, women’s and men’s basketball in the same year. Maybe this is one feat we can shoot for.

Hail Mary Squad

Wow! UE really out did themselves this season. I thought last year’s alleged point shaving blunder really hurt for them. This season was definitely worse. They set the stage so high their with their 14-0 sweep that their fall officially ranks them as the biggest chokers in Philippine College Basketball history. This one was definitely more than pride. One big THUD for them in the end. (more like a whimper actually) They couldn’t even force a game 3.

Anyway, congratulations to La Salle. Glory is yours this season. More important, you have your redemption. You took the crown from UE. You earned it. Can’t wait for the next ADMU La Salle game next year!

Honorable mention to UE. I guess you assumed your championship after your 14-0 feat you forgot you had to win 2 more. I guess you learn more with losing over winning. This one definitely hurts. 14-2.(ouch) Baka UP din sana naka 2-14 din.

Congrats to Tony.

Take it easy on us Ateneans. I concede you have earned the bragging rights! Do your worst!(kidding)

I started reading your column after “Dignity…” It was posted everywhere. The suspended banners, though I admit were quite funny at that time, were definitely low. Although let’s face it, college basketball goes hand-in-hand with heckling. It is in its culture. Nothing really personal. At least the “sus..” is not applicable anymore next year. Redemption is yours.

Kudos La Salle. Congrats esp. to Cholo. Finally, my batch mate (entered at 2001) is graduating! (with another championship no less)

Looking at the season in a nutshell. I wasn’t surprised that La Salle won the crown. They were contenders since the beginning. Maybe they faltered in the middle of the season but they were still at the top for most of the way, next to UE, encountering a minor scuffle with rival Ateneo for #2. Overall, minus the Ilad blunder, it was a great season for them.

Kudos to JV Casio even though he’s in La Salle, he’s really good and he deserves it. Handles himself well during and after games. A bit undersized for the pros though. I remember when he torched Ateneo for 15 straight points with his whole arsenal in the first game. Good thing he’s human and he lost steam. Would have been 3 wins for DLSU. I think this guy’s class made up for Maierhofer’s jeering and taunting. Congrats.

Congratulations to the DLSU Green Archers for winning the championship. Congratulations to Cholo Villanueva for making those long 7 years in college count and to Kish Co for finally playing quality minutes. I’m still quite distraught that the NABRO refs didn’t give UE a chance to come back or build a solid lead. But La Salle came not only to play but to win.

To the UE fans, there’s always next year. If I’m not mistaken, no one on their roster has used up their 5 years eligibility (Marcy is the closest with 4). Unless they are above turn 25 or are transferees, I propose all of the current UE players should come back next year and prove that their 14-0 sweep wasn’t a sham or a fluke.

To the new defending champions, the pressure is on you now. Next year, no Cholo and TY but if I’m not mistaken, Franz Pumaren should have anticipated this and by now have a plan on how to adjust.

8 10 2007
Hail Mary Squad

What to do in the off-season?

Reminisce on Season 70. There were some duds (UP, NU, UE 14-0/0-2 sweeps) and a whole lot of surprises (FEU, “the NU win”,the ADMU/DLSU epics, the Kirk Long shot, the UST comeback and the DLSU Championship). This season truly was a wild one. Definitely fun to watch and unpredictable ’til the very end.

Until next year, I guess all we can do is speculate on the upcoming season with all the future prospects.

For now, maybe eat some cake. This food talk is making me hungry.

Blue Eagle THE KING! Next year sana blue naman yung icing.

Kobe’s father is a graduate of La Salle Pennsylvania. They are called The Explorers. Up to today he is active with the school. Kobe’s mom was a track star of the same La Salle school.

Other notable La Salle alumni are Bruce Lee (La Salle Hongkong) and the late Peter Boyle, who was the father in the hit TV show “Everybody Loves Raymond”. Boyle was even a La Salle Brother.

P.S. Does anybody know where I can find the “Kobe Bryant congratulating the La Salle team” clip? I do hope that somebody uploads/uploaded it. (I wasn’t able to watch it because I left the house to pick-up my sis who was taking the DLSU Entrance exams as soon as the final buzzer sounded.)

Mr. Atayde, do you know anyone from ABS-CBN? Since Nike is a major sponsor of the UAAP (well I just assumed because the commentators and reporters are wearing Nike apparels) I hope you can convince the ABS-CBN people to do a replay of the championship games between DLSU and UE (game 1 and 2)….:) Thanks and Godbless!

Regarding Tony,

I have to admit his column, even if it is notoriously and even ridiculously biased towards La Salle, is still very entertaining with the reaction it sparks. Controversial to say the least. This is the only forum where I post because the people are really riled up because of his comments and he is unapologetic because of it. It’s fun to join the fray.

After reading the “Dignity…” and “La Salle beat La Salle” articles, I thought this guy sees only what he wants to see. I guess the “sus…” banner really hit him hard that he felt he had to defend his alma matter. A few articles later, you understand the guy’s just passionate for DLSU. Hey, aren’t we all regarding our respective universities. The only thing I completely disagree with is his statement regarding recruitment. But hey, everyone has an opinion. I definitely may not agree with his but at least I respect it.

There’s really nothing like UAAP basketball. It gives people the chance to act extremely childish with all the bashing that goes on. It is the only place where I could see old alumni during live games taunting, jeering and acting juvenile.

I just hope that eventually, there would be an Atenean counterpart next year. A Blue Blood to counter the Green Mind!

Congrats on your sweep La Salle. Game 2 wasn’t even that close. Your players showed up with their A game and eventually won the game. You deserve it.

I like the comment that stated “La Salle steel was forged and hardened in Ateneo fire” after those duels. Poetic. You fought the good fight against seemingly invincible UE.

first, give credit where credit is due congrats la salle. one comment thou, when admu bolted ncaa you followed suit. it just shows that you will not be recognized without admu. stop bragging you will only be next to ateneo. admit it, without ateneo you are nothing. imagine if u did not follow suit you will be playing with the likes of PCU, baste, perpetual—mga walang kabuhay buhay na laban.

i want to answer the comments of the la salle braggarts— stop bragging coz u r only 2nd rate copycats. dapat dun na lang kau sa ncaa— bulok naman kau at sagutin nyo mas mahirap pumasa sa ateneo— sa la sale mahirap….mag park ng kotse. magyabang kau sa sports—its your year pero sa academics bobo la salle pa rin kau

Hail Mary Squad

Sometimes, I imagine that it would be cool if studio 23 merges the UAAP and the NCAA. Thus, we have an undisputed champion. The season would take twice as long though. I wonder why the CCL doesn’t have as much prestige and exposure as the other two leagues in Studio 23. It would have renewed the rivalries between ADMU, DLSU, San Beda and Letran. You can also include San Sebastian and JRU in the mix. Weird lang nga DLSU vs. Benilde. Interesting. More drama.

This year’s versions of the UE Red Warriors and the San Beda Red Lions would have been the dream match-up for me. I wanted to see them go head-to-head with the same kind of intensity they showed in their respective leagues. Questions such as would UE maintained their 14-0 rampage? or would San Beda proclamed as the best collegiate team would have been answered.

To Candice,

No one knows. Only Chris knows for sure. People have mixed reactions on whether he should return. The most convincing theory is that he would return is that the graduating seniors (Ford and Zion) had their farewell speech during the thanksgiving mass after the DLSU loss. Chris didn’t have one. MAYBE that means something.

Anyway, his leadership will be missed even if he didn’t. On the other end, playing time would be well-distributed for Eric Salamat, Jai Reyes, and Ryan Buenafe* (some people speculate)if he didn’t. After the hype of Chris’ recruitment, I thought he was a dud because his game was soft (compared to Joseph Yeo). He converted doubters into believers this season (including myself). I hope he returns.

Indeed, chris’ game was soft.People who believes in his ability and potential will be delighted to know that he is playing next season(incase he really does)..and the guys u’v mentioned above will eventually become better and will equal(if not surpass)the performances great players of ateneo have shown in the past.Let’s keep our heads held high without stepping on anyone’s shoe.simulan na nga season 71!

mabuti pa si hail mary squad. at least he (or she) has set his eye on next year’s season. ganun dapat at tanggapin na lang yung mga pangyayari in season 70.

karamihan kasi sa mga atenista, they resort to fault finding when others become successful in their goals. they also resort to coming up with excuses when they fail to meet their objectives. it has become typical of the ateneo attitude. baguhin niyo na yan because this only makes yours a school of ill-repute.

11 10 2007

now pls tell me one more time, why can’t the rest of the world get along?

11 10 2007
go_animo

candice, to answer your question, because it’s human nature.

it takes more than being just human to accept the way things are. and that is to follow the ways of Christ. this has been taught to us filipinos since our grade school years, no matter which school we went to. unfortunately, the lessons got buried in the deepest recesses of our minds while growing up.

this is why you’d see comments by whoever that only belong to the trash bin.

if la salle lost this year, i would gladly accept it. everything that we do, win or lose, is supposed to be for God. i believe that is ateneo’s (or jesuit) slogan. but somehow, they see their loss as something God despised and hence, negativity surrounds them.

11 10 2007
Hail Mary Squad

I’m a guy. True Blue Atenean. Well, ever since, Ateneans have always taken the backseat when it comes to basketball (ngayon, allegedly, kahit sa international rankings). “Once in a blue moon” ika nga. That’s why the last time we won the championship, it was front page news.

La Salle is the Yankees while Ateneo is the Red Sox in terms of the rivalry. Baliktad lang nga when it comes to image kasi La Salle has it scruffy (“manacing appearance”) while Ateneo has more of the clean-cut do(“squeaky clean”). Galing nga eh. Talagang anti-thesis of each other talaga. Script writing at its best. That’s why its very interesting. The best show in town when the fight is on.

If Ateneo is always struggling to win their championships, its fine by me. We’re the underdog most of the time. That struggle adds to the drama. No fun always cheering for Goliath. That makes winning, though once in a blue moon…just a bit sweeter. I love my team. I’m proud to be Atenean.

No sourgraping here! Congrats La Salle.

To Candice,

If we all got along. I wouldn’t be any fun at all. Walang conflict eh. The rivalry is what makes it interesting. Problem is some people not only take it too seriously but also take it personally. That’s why they take it as low as they could get.

*Redundant pala yung “talagang anti-thesis of each other talaga.” Kindly ignore one of talaga na lang.

I hope next year, Jobe of Ateneo not only pulls a Ford but makes his best Ekwe impression! haha. “Once in a Blue moon!”

i tell you, even freud and erickson can tell me that im still sane right now if they were just alive, 4 sure..

going to the main argument:

=) some things dont need proof just to prove that it is wrong. res ipsa loquitor.. the thing speaks for itself my friend. if you had watched the 2 final games you can tell yourself that the call of the refs were obviously, not fair and all calls on the side of the green. they did not call it fair. and now, you want some proof. come on, its obvious. and again, i know that you know that you all knew it, you chea*ed just to win. sh*me! now, as the 2 local radio stations taglines, kelangan p bang imemorize yan? eh alam mo na yan.

Cheating. Well for sure we did not cheat this season. And our suspension isn’t because of cheating but because of “negligence”. (UAAP slaps 1-year ban on De La Salle Philippine Daily Inquirer, April 22, 2006)

With regards to cheating, you might want to look Ateneo’s history. Example:

During the 70’s, Ateneo fielded a highschool player by the name of Steve Watson in their Men’s Basketball line up resulting to one year suspension the following season in the NCAA.

17 10 2007

Hay, superiority complex at its finest. We all know who won the title this season. And as for the other teams, there’s still next season.

Natalo na nga ang “duh” ateneo but still you want to prove that they should’ve won by desperately seeking hearsay-based reasons.

Unless you can prove your point by bringing all your evidences to the supreme court then by that time we’ll be convinced that all along you are stating the truth.

But as of now, all the things that the “others” are saying are mere hearsays.

In short, chismis.

Move over and get a life. Sore Losers!

Hmmm. Never mind, i got your point anyway.

Like Ateneo, if you loss: BLAME IT TO THE REFEREES!

Try watching the game over and over again and you’ll see that the refs aren’t biased. Yes, there are some instances when they weren’t able to call some errors but that is BOTH teams.

Don’t blame the refs. Blame your team.

i get ur point sir. i accuse ur team of chea*ing but then i had not given any proof that the refs were really paid. but u have to get my point sir, theres no more need for me to prove that ur team paid the refs since its already so so so so so so so so so so so obvious that during the 2 final games the refs were not calling it right. of course i know coz i had watched it. and no need for me to elaborate those unfair calls coz it would be longer for this comment just to list it all. ;p and if ur team had not really paid the refs, just only if although i know its not, then its just that those refs dont know how to referee a game and should never referee a game anymore.. shame on them. but of course i know the real story and the real intention and the real ev*l, ehem. ehem. =) (oops, ill mention no names, so better be cool mr atayde)

im not idiot mr atayde and im not naive. because at the start, if you knew im an idiot, you shouldnt had replied to my comments. but u had already done it, so if im an idiot and naive then so as u. welcome to the idiot club mr atayde. greetings! =)

i had already got a life.. a life realizing that the green community is the champions and a champion through chea*ing.. how sweet! and it really regrets me every time i thought about it.

i dont want politics mr atayde. but since u had included this argument then i would love to answer it. really, its a tradition for a filipino politician to accuse that they were cheated whenever they lose. but u had to accept the fact that there are really some politicians who were really cheated. come on, the story of this current administration really personifies my story mr atayde.

lastly mr atayde, im not bitter. honestly, i would love to accept my defeat especially when i know that i can give myself no reason to think that im cheated. if its a good lost, then so be it. but the truth of the matter is, its not.

im not using gods name in vain. and anyway, u dont know whos god im refering to. remember mr atayde, i have the right to choose who will i call my god. maybe the god that im refering to is jesus christ, or the devil (can be), the refs of that 2 final game or even u. wow. haha. so u have no idea to say that im using gods name in vain.. get it.?

u won we lost. and we were cheated. =) its a fact. live with it mr atayde.

happy sourgraping for me. ;p

the referees should have a fair share of your trophy guys.. they also worked hard for it. =)

remember, god is watching us all.

Typical Pinoy Mentality:

Natalo = Dinaya
Nanalo = Nandaya

Hay, crab-mentality at its finest.

Accept the truth. It’s in front of you already and you’re just over analyzing the situation.

It’ll hurt but it’ll make you better.

Try focusing on rebuilding your team rather that finding hearsay-based reasons on wh the ‘duh’ ateneo lost and La Salle became the eventual champions.

Tsk tsk.

greenmanure,

“Under the subsidiaries”??? Man, you should stop reading these websites and start getting some serious English lessons.

It must be pretty hard waking up every morning with so much bitterness. This is my last response to you mainly because I cant understand your English. Take a writing course instead of rambling on with words such as “obvious”, “everybody knows” and “I know the real story”.

“No man is as blind as the man who refuses to see.” I guess you never saw any problem in the officiating when UE beat La Salle in the first 2 rounds. Of course not, cos La Salle lost. UE went 14-0 and again you definitely did not see anything wrong. But because UE lost, you are now the expert on officiating and you have suddenly become “Mr. Know It All”. Had UE won those games, you would have not had any problem in the officiating.

Accept, learn to write better in English and dont be a Mr. Know it All.

I have a victory party to go to while you have a year of misery ahead of you.

Just a “side” question:

How was it possible that the Juniors MVP this year did not even make the mythical team (or vice versa)?

Isn’t it assumed that since he’s the best player in the league, he’s also the best player in that particular position.

I thought Webb or someone from Ateneo would win the award because of their team’s success this season. I was surprised when someone from UP suddenly came out with the MVP.

Nothing against him though. Just wondering how that happened.

OBF!

Even if they you say they cheated, doesn’t change the fact that they won. If your team won, you wouldn’t like it either if they accused your side of cheating. In the end, La Salle scored more points after the buzzer. No amount of ranting could ever change or take those points away. Plain and simple.

This season was a treat for fans because it meant winning was beyond stats and numbers as the mathematical anomalies would prove.

Look forward to next year and hope that it will be your team’s turn to be at the top. The UAAP doesn’t end at season ’70.

OBF! Blue Eagle the KING!

^ I couldn’t agree with you more. Indeed, you’re a true Atenean.

See you guys next season.

Hopefully a La Salle – Ateneo finals! 🙂

It’s cool. My GF is a La Sallite (or La Sallian as she prefers to be identified nowadays) and thinks otherwise. Although she usually comments that I have a big nose.
:O)

I’d be more worried if Mr. Atayde actually thought I was attractive (blush). Besides, he hasn’t seen me in person. Haha.
